Michigan is beautiful. There are so many places to go and you are never more than 5 miles (I think that's the statistic) from water!
We were born and raised there. The winters of late have been cold. Very bitter cold, strong winds and not enough snow to be sure of a good a ski trip. At least that was what it was like about 3 or 4 winters ago. We have moved south since. If you retire there, set aside enough for your heating bill!!!!
Right now the economy is dismal, and many are losing their homes. The one we just sold, was forclosed upon since and the realty agent told me it sold for less than 1/2 of what we sold it for! Got out of there just in time!
Last summer, almost 1/2 of the homes on Lake Huron we drove past from Port Huron and south were for sale. I am not kidding when I say 1/2 of them were for sale. We were flabbergasted! If you are seriously thinking of moving north, now might be the time to shop for your new place! The Lake Michigan side gets a lot of tourism though, so I don't have any idea what the market is like there right now. It is beautiful. Have you been to Mackinaw Island yet? You simply must go and bike around it if you can! I love the island. Frankenmuth is also a wonderful tourist town. It is called Michigan's Little Bavaria. It is also home to the U.S. largest christmas store, Bronner's.
The fishing is great too. I swear there is no better smell than getting close to the lakes and smelling them before you see them. (The moisure in the air alerts your senses to the water). I wish we had more time when we go back!
Thanks for the stroll through my home state!

So then, brothers, we can see by the guidance of "mother" here, that Brother Russell and the "Bible Students" were in serious and grave error and danger in their endeavors to search the scriptures together in small groups.
We can see how this was not the way God wanted his word handled. Jesus words must not be taken literally when he said, "wherever 2 or 3 are gathered together, there I am in their midst". What he really meant was a figurative meaning of the numbers 2 and 3, not a literal count of persons. It is clearly a reference to the governing body, who being present as "christ", are leading the congregations at the district assembly this year. The title "Follow the Christ" shows Jehovah's blessing on this arrangement and his approval of the lead being taken by our dear brothers at the headquarters. Please remember, taking Christ's words literally, would mean God's Spirit can accomplish we deem impossible, therby putting Jehovah to the test and showing ourselves to be desirous of independence from the "table of Jehovan" and the "healthful teachings" we acquire there. To be absent from that table would imply we are instead ready to feast upon the "table of demons". Such an independent attitude would be dangerous indeed.
Can you say that without puking? -

I treated the kids to a spa day at home this morning! They are 8 (girl) and 6 (boy).
They got back and foot massages which the 6 year old giggled and laughed through! I put cucumbers on their eyes, and he asked if he could eat them instead. Oh alright. Then he asked for ranch dressing to dip it in. I said "this is a spa, not a restaurant" as he giggled while I gave him a foot massage.
We also have a massage pad you place in a chair. So they each got to sit in that in the recliner while they listened to a gentle rainfall cd and the tabletop waterfall. Very relaxing.
Mama was tired, so next they got a bubble bath (in swimwear) with foaming soap, and candlelight. Our girl (8) wanted a fruit plate too, just like on the commercials. So they got a snack plate and a water with a twist of lemon. They had so much fun! They are now watching a movie and having a totally relaxing day, while I catch up here!
Just thought I'd share a cute moment with you all. It was so funny to see their different responses to it. The little guy giggled the whole time and our girl absolutely loved it. She says it's her best day ever.
What are you doing the last bit of summer to make those special memories? We also went to chuck e cheese and the local beach. It seems like summer has flown by.

WEBSTER on "Jehovah's Witness"
by compound complex injehovah's witness n: a member of a group that witness by distributing literature and by personal evangelism to beliefs in the theocratic rule of god, the sinfulness of organized religions and governments, and an imminent millenium [emphasis added].
webster's new collegiate dictionary, 1977. while checking up on another word in the js, i noticed the above.
nothing earthshaking here; i was simply bemused by webster's take on what a jw is and how he [the jw] views "organized religions" other than his own organized religion.

Gotta say it took me a minute to realize you meant the dictionary! I read your thread title and immediately thought of the old t.v. show with the little kid! I just had to tell you thanks for the laugh and the automatic slap to the forehead! I guess I should've had a V8!

I hate Walmart!
by Elsewhere ini rarely ever set foot in the place and will go out of my way to avoid shopping there.
tonight i made the mistake of giving walmart the benefit of the doubt and walked in the door.. they didn't have the main item i was looking for, but they did have one other small item.
i headed to the front to check out only to find they had only a few check-outs open and all of the lines were far too long.

Add my family to the hate list!
I avoid that store like the plague. There are times I stop there.Maybe three times a year. I am not perfect in my avoidance, but I never go there to "shop". I hate what they have done to small town America and the businesses they have ruined! I have seen many go under due to their greed. -

LOL!
"Five weeks will pass quickly" , you said something like that. It will pass quickly for you, but the poor mama will feel each agonizing minute that baby is sitting on her bladder! The last week is killer on the mom! Especially if your little guy likes it in there and decides to stay an extra week like both of our babies did!
It is so exciting! Congratulations and pamper mom! Back rubs and kisses are always welcome! My hubby painted my toenails for me (I certainly couldn't reach them!) so I could feel beautiful!
Make sure you have a cup of ice chips for mom during labor! It helps cool her down, gives her liquids and something to crunch during contractions! The only breathing help I needed was for my husband and doctor to tell me to breathe. I was enjoying the peace of not breathing! I remember thinking, "It feels so good not to breathe!" But the baby needed me to breathe for her, so as a mom, I had to start again and take care of the baby!!!! What we won't do for our children. I mean really. I even have to breathe for you?
Congratulations again! Wishing you both a quick and easy birth and a long lifetime of togetherness with your sweet little guy! -

Kindest thoughts to you as you contemplate your brothers life and your love for him. May you find peace and assurance of a reuniting with him in your heart. Don't let anyone take that thought from you. It is so hard to fathom it after the specific jw indoctrinization (sp?) we received.
Faith in Jesus' words though, keep it in our heart and mind. He said in his Father's house there are many rooms and he was going his way to prepare a place for us. (This is a scripture I was asked a question about and I couldn't forget it. It helped lead me out of the jw.) I like to imagine what they must look like! After all, the city has pearl gates and all sorts of precious gems! Let your imagination run wild and remember your brothers interests and what his room might be like! Hope it helps!
Hugs,

Hello Everyone...
by Abandoned ini've been away for quite awhile.
well, not really, just away from any discussion of that horrid religion.
i just couldn't give any more seconds of my life to talking about anything even remotely related to jehovah's witnesses.
